Why it makes me happy - it doesn't take a lot of exercise to boost your entire system.  Felt really great tonight....yeah....could have pushed harder......but the nice thing is......I won't be a hurting puppy tomorrow.

Wish I'd made all of the putts.....or hit the greens in the first place......but....hey..... golf imitates life.  You don't get what you want.....and you better figure out and work on your recovery game....because you gotta pick yourself up out of the trash on occasion

Why it makes me happy - I really hit it STINKY yesterday......fat and off the toe. This  morning's range session started with a continuation.....and it was KILLING my wrist.  I decided to play "Mr CounterIntuitive" and, though I was hitting it fat (behind the ball), I actually decided to hit MORE down on the ball.  This changed my swing path..........and brought a bit more "pop" back into my driver.

Why it makes me happy - it's not like I am dealing with a ton of hair....and it's just not that big a deal to me. My gal cut it and styled it a little differently yesterday.....I didn't tell her to. She just does what she does.  I guess she must have done a good job....guys and gals....some that saw me yesterday morning....saw it as a big difference...for the better.  I dunno....as I have said before in previous posts....my hair is no biggie to me. Yet, I must admit, it was nice to get the props.

Why it makes me happy - it was a critical shot....a tough shot. My opponent had the same shot. I was going to go first. I said, "what the heck are we going to do with this?" He said, "I dunno whether to run it or fly it." I said, "I don't know what your definition of running/flying is.....but I gotta hit this low and a quarter on the green...have it skip up the hill...and hopefully with a bit of spin to stop it by the pin." Miraculously, I hit the exact shot I described....it ended 2 inches from the hole.....and secured the win on the front side.

Why it makes me happy - I so NEED my 6 iron. It broke off in my hands during a swing over a week ago. I hit down on a shot....and.....SNAP! I've never had that happen.  The shaft is kind of a special one. I was happy that a special order was fulfilled so quickly. Nice to have her back in the bag

Why it makes me happy - my putter is my "money" club. The head had come lose.....I thought it was the grip....I re-worked the head....I put a new grip on...but I didn't get that one on EXACTLY straight. It also wasn't like my old grip. I put on a different grip...still wasn't right.  The new grip...and the new setup to the putter........the "Rat-effer" is back!

Why it makes me happy - last harvest means a bunch of tomato sauce....and the idea of recipes in which to use it.  I think I got a good burn on this batch. Why it makes me happy - it's a big deal when a young man learns an endeavor....and then goes to his first tournament....to be tested.  I remember how that felt like.  It was a sacred privilige to be there....and be present for this moment.....that can never be replicated.  The first only happens once. The nervousness...the not knowing what is going on or what is going to happen...and watching that go through his mind.   I watched him get tagged....HARD.....twice.  He dug in and fought back harder.  So proud of him for stepping in.....and pushing on and through.

So...due to the controversey....I went on-line and reviewed the pics as they regard to Princess Kate and the stance we should take on this all important issue. It seems the world is locked into 2 option thinking ...which is never optimal. It is always best to have at least 3 options.

My nemisis proceded to put his 7 iron with 5 feet of the pin.....things looked bleak for our hero (that's me in this story).  I proceded to jack a 7 iron to a half inch as close as my foe. I now NEEDED that putt......and in it went.  HappyUP!!! It did not make me happy that my opponent missed his putt....but I took that 1 up lead on the back 9 and held on to it on 18........minimizing damages on a day I was getting my fanny spanked!

Why it makes me happy - I kinda like hanging around this orb! Been golfing for over 40 years....never had this happen. I hit my 6 iron on the 9th hole and, as the club contacted the ground, the club broke right in the grip below my hands.  The rubber grip, however, kept the club attached.  The dangling metal now wrapped around my neck in my follow through.  Hey....GOLF.....a dangerous game! Careful out there, kids!

Why it makes me happy - I was pleasantly surprised to find this event on a Friday afternoon on the major network. THEN, I was floored by what a tremendous third set this was.  Sharapova was whistling in 115 mph serves....Azarenka was returning them.  Lots of long points....long games.....a true gruntfest was going on. LOVE sports at their highest!

As I am speaking, I look over and I see the Chief of Police ACTIVELY taking down notes from my talk.  If it wasn't the fire chief, it was a fire batallion chief doing the same.  A major HR director.  Very humbling that I was asked to present as part of leadership development................and was asked if I would come back next year!

Why it makes me happy - though it is last minute, I will get the sacred privilege to address 20 leaders in the Rocklin community regarding the leadership skill of putting on meetings...hosting speakers....and on public speaking. I am so blessed to not be worrying about how I will be received.....and to be able to focus just on the MEAT....the information that these people need.....on short notice. Why it makes me happy - this kind of round can be VERY frustrating....and, to be honest, it was at times. For the most part, however, I put a smile on my face and was pleasant company.  As a matter of fact, I remember actually laughing a couple of times.  Trust me....I have seen how others act when this day is going on.....I have much to proud of myself for.

Why it makes me happy - OK....I don't have them yet....but I picked them out. While far from vain, I find this a tough decision.....with the help of the optician.....we found a great pair today. Can't wait till they come in. They are a bit bigger....maybe not as stylish (who knows/who cares on that front....they will be more functional for golf).  It was a lot easier than I had thought........and....the are Ray Ban's....so they won't be that far off.

I came across a wonderful example today - that points out the importance of HappyUP!!!'s in our daily lives. It revolves around expectations.

Let's say that you are heading to your workplace - and are looking forward to grabbing that cup of coffee as you head off to your desk.

Expectation - "I am going to make a pot of coffee so that my co-workers benefit as well as I do"

You arrive at the breakroom - and find that, lo and behold, there is no coffee left in the existing pot. You NOW have the ability to happily live out your expectation.

If your expectation had been - "I'm grabbing a cup of coffee and heading off to my desk," what would your attitude be if you found that empty pot?

"Dammit.....why couldn't the person who took the last cup start a new pot?"

"Why am I the only one around here that seems to know how to make a darn pot of coffee?"

Under the latter expectation - you have set yourself up only for failure.  Even if there HAD been coffee in the pot, you wouldn't have appreciated that it was there.  You would just be agitated that nobody MADE YOU any coffee if the carafe was empty.

Under the former expectation - I don't think you're heart would be broken that your vision of altruism of making coffee for everyone could not be fulfilled today. You would be VERY likely to say, "cool, the coffee is already brewed.....I'll do my humanitarian service tomorrow."

That pot is going to be - in whatever state it is going to be in when you get there. The question is, "what state will you be in upon arriving upon the coffee station?"

Why it happened - tomatoes and motivation
Why it makes me happy - the downside to tomatoes is their very essence. They grow fast and quickly when it's been as hot as it's been lately.  You get a bunch NOW.  Who wants to be cooking on a day that is this hot, though?  Today......I did.........and I even took the skins off this time......and that was a lot of skins. Now....the fruit of my labor will be enjoyed for many meals to come

Why it makes me happy - this little gem left the club as if it had eyes. One of the guys said, "be right"....meaning be the right distance.  I KNEW it was right.....landing a couple of inches from the hole with a little backspin for a gimmie.  I only wish it had been a birdie (oooopsie.....had gotten into a little tree trouble with first and second shots).

Why it happened - I gutted out the last hole
Why it makes me happy - I was looking pretty DEAD on 18 after some horrible shots.  I kept grinding away and made a bogey (yeah, it could have been worse....easily). To my surprise, I was handed a nice little gift.....and walked away with a tie.  Always Do Your Best....even if your best might not be that good at the moment

Why it makes me happy - if I could win this week....at a MAJOR.....oh.......how satisfying it would be. It's been a tough year in the league for me......this could SHOOT me up the money list

Why it makes me happy - a couple of my buds went 36 today......when it's about 103 in the afternoon. No thank you.....I enjoyed watching the PGA major from an air conditioned environment.

Why it happened - the heat
Why it makes me happy - we had a late time today....the tee sheet was packed.  I think a little 102 degree weather dropped more than a few like flies. Great to move up a half hour.

Why it makes me happy - that piece of chicken was EXACTLY what I needed today. I LOVE it when I'm hungry, open up the fridge, and go, "wow!...that's right....I have that!"

Why it makes me happy - we thought the group ahead was going to cause us to be left in the sun baking. The group actually played a lot faster than billed....dropped out after 9.....so we could FLY!

Why it happened - skills?...and no skills
Why it makes me happy - I really shouldn't have been hitting a 7 iron in on my third shot....but it is what it is.  I was just thrilled to have gotten ALL OVER IT and put it within 12-15 feet of that tucked pin.  Grinding it out gave me a very unlikely tie.
