HappyUP!!! - Hole Theory

Why it happened - I was reminded of it

Why it makes me happy - long ago, I created a thing called Hole Theory. Rule 1 - when in a hole.....quit digging! Rule 2 - an auger is not a tool that will help you get out! I am watching a guy trying to dig out of a hole with an auger. It saddens me....but nothing I can do. It is almost as if he wants to bury himself. THAT does not make me happy. The happiness comes from me seeing that the Hole Theory, while something I conjured up, actually is a REAL concept.

Why it makes me happy - I was dreading this trip. I thought, after 16-17 years, THIS might be the end of the road. Yeah, I know it's coming. Just soooooo happy that today wasn't that day.

Why it makes me happy - I made a swing change to hit the ball higher and take advantage of the wind. I crushed the ball with my driver. I decided to stay with this change on the next hole....another crushed drive. The change may have uncovered a swing flaw plaguing me with the driver. Ah....the golf swing...always a HappyUP!!! to have something to tinker with.

It's a TINY person....

.....who thinks - he makes himself bigger by TRYING to make others smaller.

It includes - drumming up faults about others...and using that as a way of propping oneself up. This is especially true if the "big" person currently demonstrates the same fault.

Religious leaders - who talk down sexual orientations that don't agree with their Bible and then practice those same deviations come to mind. THAT hypocrisy gets the world's attention.

But it happens - on much more common fronts.

This includes - "I hate this person because they did..........".......and then doing the same thing oneself.

It is an interesting perspective - when one realizes that they have gone out of their way to find faults in others when it is the same fault that one carries. It could be a wake up call to get help......

....but, most likely - the narcissist just continues on his/her own same path....and wonders why life isn't working for them.

TINY people? - while I always have a heart for people that struggle....and want to get better....I have no room for those that choose to live in their TINY shell

Why it makes me happy - there must have been over 100 tow trucks ringing my park and surrounding neighborhood. The reason was somber. One of their own had been killed. It was uplifting, however, to see them turnout to raise attention to California's "Move Over" Law. This law is mostly neglected....and VERY dangerous to our Emergency Service Workers.

What an Awesome pivilege!

Last night - I was able to experience the youth of our country step up and speak their minds.

But...- it wasn't just their minds as they were. It was their minds after they had researched...and given a thought to what they would say.

I was "a judge" - at a speech contest...a sacred privelege. I would be part of a consortium that would decide who was "the best."

At the end of the night - my mind was expanded. I was the winner

These young girls and boys - were speaking on how women have been impoverished in many cultures

Sure - we know about the glass ceiling in America. It exists....I know..shocking!...news at eleven...and we need to constantly work on that here.

But..in third word countries - a daughter is not just someone that has to overcome the odds in the workplace like she has to here. She is a curse. She can't work in the fields. She is someone that has to be sold off to someone that has a son that will marry her

That brought me home - back here...in our Western Culture...that is tied to our children in so many ways. Think about that farmer....in a third world country...who a daughter is looked upon as a burden. Once he "sells her off", he and his wife will never see her again. Start thinking about the dog who has her puppies adopted

That dog - will never see her baby again...and that dog will live with it.

Now - that is unconditional love. She brought her pup into the world. It's time for him/her to fend for itself

THAT is one extreme way - to look at things. I'm not saying it is "right." As Shakespeare so aptly put it, "there are no goods or bads...thinking makes it so."

Let's go to the other extreme - we hold our children BEYOND our basic responsibility of making them "good people" that can survive in this world. We expect them to give us grandchildren....to come "home for the holidays"...to make our lives complete.

Our lives - are not about our children. If you have chosen to have them, the responsibility you have is no more than a mother in the wild...you do your best so they can survive on their own.

Anything else - if you get it, is the cherry on top. A parents responsibility is NOT to lower themself to their kids level. It is about living a life that the child will aspire to.

The ball went up....gently faded....came down with a butterfly with sore feet.....a foot from the hole. Easy birdie.

Occasionally, there are going to be very disturbed people who visit for other purposes.....and that's OK. It's a compliment to my intellect. They can't get enough of me. I am thankful there are people out there that are able, ready, and willing to help the hurting people in our society....once those hurting people realize they need the help. Even though the youth they are around see through it (oh, how I love the eyes of children), they are effected as well. Why it happened - one guy had some sense

Why it makes me happy - it was a cold, wet morning. There was a slight sprinkle and the wind was kicking up. One of the guys in the group said, "I'm going in." Me and the other guy decided to follow his lead. Within 5-10 minutes, it was raining pretty hard. Ahhhhh......staying warm and dry....always a HappyUP!!!

<----cold days can call for extreme measures on the golf course. Who says golf carts don't have seat warmers?

Why it makes me happy - if you have something in your life that is a minor irritation...no big...just something you put up with...it is a toleration. I zapped the dimmer switch, the gas can, and an appliance today. Zapping ONE toleration on any day is a good thing.

Why it happened - I was thinking of an old song

Why it makes me happy - I saw a series on YouTube of the original singers doing DoWop hits from the 60's and early 70's. It was cool because the singers were all sitting there as the audience. They would pull one person up....you would have no idea who they were...until they started to burst into "Spooky" or "Dizzy" or "I love you more today than yesterday." It was that kind of music and great to hear and see the artists today.

Why it happened - a little skill

Why it makes me happy - my adversary had hit the green....and boldly claimed how he was going to put it to me by making his putt. I had missed the green into a very tough spot. I gauged where I needed to pitch the ball....figured it would bounce a little right...then roll back to the left. I ALMOST holed it out....it puckered my opponent for a second. Easy par...got the tie on the hole.

Why it makes me happy - my car doesn't have a warning light...it has a "drive this straight to the workshop" light. I was glad that there just may have been a misfire and all I needed to do was have the computer reset. Better from a cost perspective...and a walking perspective as I didn't have a ride lined up for sure!
